Walk and Talk Therapy
First, what is "Walk and Talk Therapy"?
Walk and Talk Therapy is traditional therapy, in an untraditional setting. Our society has become less and less connected with nature. We spend the majority of our time indoors and on electronics. Research indicates there is a link between our disconnection with nature and our mental health. With Walk and Talk therapy, you can experience the benefits of physical activity, nature, and therapy simultaneously. Sessions are 60 minutes and $150 |

Is the idea of traditional therapy intimidating to you?
Do you have your best ideas and motivation while on a walk or a run?
Is your time limited? Does the idea of going to therapy while also getting in some moderate exercise sound appealing?
Do you like the idea of using research based methods to boost your mood?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, Walk and Talk Therapy might be right for you.
Studies show that exercise has many benefits that contribute to wellness. Exercising decreases depression and anxiety, enhances brain plasticity (your ability to learn new things), increases your ability to regulate your emotions, and improves sleep. In addition, studies have shown that just being outside induces positive emotions.

Frequently Asked Questions about Walk and Talk Therapy
- Where will our sessions take place? ~ Our office is conveniently located in the heart of Dilworth. Our street backs up to Freedom Park, making it an ideal choice for our sessions.
- Will people hear what we talk about?~ Because we are in public we do run into the possibility that someone may overhear our discussion. As your therapist, I try to be aware of our proximity to others to reduce what is overheard. I also schedule Walk and Talk sessions around slower times at Freedom Park 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. or 3 p.m.
- Where do we meet? ~ We meet at our office and we walk to Freedom Park together.
- What happens if it rains or is too cold? ~ We always have the option to have our sessions in the office in the event there is unfavorable weather. I leave that choice up to you. We can also decide to combine some walking with some office time, to reduce the amount of time we are outside.
- What should I wear? ~ Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. If you are coming from work, work clothes are fine, just bring appropriate shoes. We are not trying to get in some cardio, our pace is very slow, so work out clothes are not necessary.
